Our event tonight was a rousing success!  Thanks to everyone who came out tonight to meet Andrew and listen to him speak!  We have signed copies of Twain’s Feast on hand in case you didn’t get a chance to make it!

We are so thrilled to be able to announce one of the biggest author events we’ve had to opportunity of having so far – Andrew Beahrs, the author of Twain’s Feast!  Here’s his personal bio from his website:

Andrew Beahrs is the author of Twain’s Feast, forthcoming from Penguin Press, and the novels Strange Saint and the The Sin Eaters, both from Toby Press.

His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Writer’s Chronicle, Gastronomica, Food History News, Ocean Magazine, Virginia Quarterly Review, Alligator Juniper, and other journals.

Born and raised in Connecticut, he earned his BA in Anthropology from UC Berkeley, his MA in Anthropology/Archaeology from the University of Virginia, and his MFA in Fiction from Louisville’s Spalding University.

Andrew lives in Berkeley with his family.

Andrew will be joining us for a book reading and signing on Friday, October 8th from 5 to 8 PM.

Twain’s Feast is, so far, my book of the year, so I can not contain my happiness about the fact that Andrew is coming here to do an event for us.  It’s incredibly nice of him to do this, and am really looking forward to hearing him discuss the book and his ties to Twain, as well as some of his anthropological background.  I urge you, if you have any sort of interest in Twain, food or anthropology, to swing by for this very special event.
